The Atlanta Falcons have explored a variety of options after firing 3 year head coach, Arthur Smith, earlier this month. From FBS National Champion, Jim Harbaugh to young offensive gurus, Bill Callahan and Ben Johnson, to even the GOAT himself – the Falcons are casting their hiring net far and wide.

Bill Belichick The New Atlanta Falcons Head Coach?
Whilst it is hardly official, or even informally settled yet, it seems that Belichick has the upper hand in the race to become the Falcons’ newest head coach. Rather, we should say that the Atlanta Falcons have the upper hand in the Bill Belichick sweepstakes.
The Falcons Are One Of The NFL’s Most Desirable Head Coaching Jobs?
Bill Belichick is rumored to prefer a talented but underachieving team, and this Falcons team – minus the big question at the most important position, quarterback, would seemingly fit that description entirely.
Moreover, he is the first person, per the NFL’s coaching tracker, to have received a second interview from the Falcons brass, lead by owner, Arthur Blank. After striking out with a young offensive guru type in Arthur Smith, it is quite possible that Blank prefers someone who is both tried and tested (and has had unbelievable success), in addition to being on the defensive side of the ball.
We will wait and see if in fact Belichick becomes the new head coach of the Falcons. If so, it will certainly bring a new spotlight and attention to the franchise’s who’s Super Bowl hopes he once crushed, in what feels like a lifetime ago.
