There are a lot of rumors involving the Atlanta Falcons these days, and a lot of them concern the possibility of them trading for Chicago Bears quarterback Justin Fields. The Bears are not clear with their plans with Fields, and that uncertainty has opened up the door for all sorts of speculations to come rushing in.
Atlanta Falcons GM Shows Support For Tight End Kyle Pitts
Assuming the Atlanta Falcons successfully land Fields via a blockbuster trade, he could be the key that fully unlocks mystifying tight end Kyle Pitts, who still has the talent and the upside to become one of the scariest and most productive downfield weapons in the league. And speaking of Pitts, he just got an encouraging voice of support from Atlanta Falcons general manager Terry Fontenot (h/t Matt Urben of Falcons Wire).
“We have a lot of faith in Kyle, and obviously he was dealing with an injury this season.” And look, he fought through and he finished the season but now he’s healthy, right? He can have a healthy offseason.”
“We know Kyle is going to put in the work and get the most of himself and we’re going to continue to add but we’re very excited about Kyle having a great offseason and having a great year,” Fontenot concluded.

Pitts is coming off just his third season in the NFL, and he slightly bounced back in 2023 from a putrid 2022 campaign. In 2022, after he had a 1,000-yard season in his rookie season, he only had 356 receiving yards and two touchdowns. In 2023, he was able to rack up 667 receiving yards and three touchdowns on 53 receptions. The Atlanta Falcons will have a decision to make down the road on Pitts, whose fifth-year option for the 2025 NFL season has yet to be picked up by his team.
A potential Fields-Pitts duo sounds exciting for the Falcons, but that’s still nothing but speculation for now.
