The Atlanta Falcons find themselves in a crossroads during the offseason as they evaluate their options for the future of the franchise. with recent comments made by head coach Raheem Morris, speculation has grown regarding the potential acquisition of Chicago Bears quarterback Justin Fields.
During the previous season, the Falcons struggled to put up a playoff-worthy campaign, resulting in a 7-10 record. Despite getting the top seed in the said division at some point, Atlanta failed to hold onto the number one spot and fell to third place in the NFC South division.
Due to the Falcons’ inability to make the playoffs, Arthur Smith was let go at the start of the year. He was then replaced by Raheem Morris in an attempt to make the team more competitive for the following season.
Raheem Morris May Have Just Hinted About a Potential Justin Fields Trade By The Atlanta Falcons
One of the biggest needs Atlanta has for next season is a talented quarterback. Morris, for his part, may have given a hint on who the team will pursue this offseason. In a video posted on X by CBS:
“You want to go get the best fit for your people, you want to get the best fit for your coaches, you want to go get the best fit for our city, and you want to do all those things. There’s nothing ruled out. I forgot to mention trades, because all of those things come into play. We’ve really been tedious, we’ve really been going through the process of how we are going to acquire the best fit for us,” Morris said.
Morris’ mention of getting the best fit may refer to Fields due to the fact that the Chicago Bears quarterback hails from Kennesaw, Georgia. This prompted fans to connect the dots and conclude that he is the QB Atlanta is targeting this offseason.
Whether this is true or not will be known in a few months. In any case, Fields won’t have a shortage of suitors by the time free agency hits its stride soon.
