Andy Reid talks about what his quarterback can do
Andy Reid is figuring out how to get his offensive running with several major injuries to the unit. The Kansas City Chiefs will need to have a tremendous offensive performance to penetrate a stingy Philadelphia Eagles defense in the Super Bowl. Reid provided an injury update on their most important player Wednesday morning.
The Chiefs had three wide receivers sit out of practice last week, including JuJu Smith-Schuster. Tight end Travis Kelcie played with a back injury in the AFC Championship Game. Mahomes has been playing with a high-ankle sprain (a similar injury had the Chiefs place wide receiver Mecole Hardman on injured reserve this week) since the first half of the Chiefs’ Divisional Round win against the Jacksonville Jaguars.
Mahomes played well against the Cincinnati Bengals the next week as he threw for 326 yards and two touchdowns. However, Mahomes was limited in his mobility in the win.

According to Dianna Russini with ESPN, Andy Reid gave an update on Mahomes’ injury. Reid said Mahomes is not 100 percent back from the high-ankle sprain. But Reid was encouraged that the All-Pro quarterback could handle most of the playbook. Andy Reid added Mahomes moved well at practice Monday.
Perhaps the most important injury update for Super Bowl Sunday.
Andy Reid said Patrick Mahomes, who admits isn’t 100%, can do just about everything in the playbook. Reid referenced a fast practice on Monday and seemed happy with how Mahomes is moving.

The Chiefs have a few more days to try and heal up in between practices. Mahomes was able to make it work with his injury against the Bengals in the AFC Championship Game. But Sunday will be a completely different contest. According to Pro Football Focus, the Eagles have the highest-rated pass rush. The Eagles led the league in sacks with 70 (the Chiefs had the second most sacks with 55) in the regular season. The Eagles have sacked their opponents quarterback eight times in the postseason.
