Patrick Mahomes is practicing through an injury
Patrick Mahomes was able to practice on Wednesday. A video from Thursday’s practice wasn’t all too promising from Mahomes rehab before the AFC Championship Game Sunday. The All-Pro quarterback is dealing with a high-ankle sprain he sustained during the Kansas City Chiefs’ win over the Jacksonville Jaguars in the Divisional Round Saturday.
Head coach Andy Reid told reporters this week his injury is less serious than the injury Mahomes had in 2019. Mahomes is expected to play against the Cincinnati Bengals at home Sunday for the chance to go to the Super Bowl. But his skill set might be limited.
A video from Thursday’s practice posted by James Palmer with the NFL Network shows Mahomes with his teammates warming up. The players were shown doing high kicks. Mahomes wasn’t able to show the flexibility with his leg kicks that his teammates were. His injury really stood out in the video:

Mahomes’ arm wasn’t affected when he returned Saturday following the first-half injury against the Jaguars. However, his mobility suffered. If the video above is any indication, Mahomes will still have that obstacle against the Bengals on Sunday.
