Jarvis Landry is a 5 time pro bowl wide receiver, led the NFL is receptions in 2017, and was named to the PFWA All-Rookie team in 2014. Before that Jarvis Landry was a kid growing up in southern Louisiana. Welcome Home Jarvis Landry.
Jarvis Landry College Days:
Landry spent 3 season with Louisiana State University, his first two seasons there were about average. Something changed his Junior year however.
Landry posted 77 catches for 1,193 yards and 10 touch downs. He became a house hold name in Louisiana, as well as making 2nd team All-SEC before entering into the draft.
Landry’s Journey in the Pros:
2014
Landry came onto the scene and hit the ground running, quickly becoming one of NFL’s top young players. He was drafted to Miami in the second round.
His rookie season found him breaking the Dolphins all-time record for catches by a rookie with 84. Adding 1,158 yards on punt and kick returns. Jarvis Landry was known now by football fans all across America.
2015
His second year in the league he had highlight catch after highlight catch. As well as breaking the Dolphins all-time record for receptions in a season with 110, he was named to his first pro bowl.
He set a record for most receptions by a player through his first 2 seasons with 194, which was beaten the next season by now teammate Michael Thomas. (Can’t Guard Mike)
He also cracked the Top 100 NFL Players of 2015, landing at number 98.
2016-2017
Jarvis Landry is now a full fledged super star, named to two more pro bowls, the accolades continued to grow. He caught 11 receptions for 102 yards in his first playoff game and won the “Best Hands Competition” at the pro bowl.
2016 he was ranked 42nd by his peers on the Top 100 NFL Players of 2016. Followed by number 52 in 2017, as well as setting the most receptions record through 4 seasons in NFL history the same year.
About 10 days after Miami placed the franchise tag on Landry, he was traded to Cleveland, his choice according to the franchise. In Cleveland he was to be teammates once again with old LSU teammate Odell Beckham Jr.
2018
Landry continued to do what he has done in the NFL, he set the record for most receptions by a player through 5 seasons. He earned his spot into another pro bowl and he led the Browns in receptions on the season with 89.
2019
Nobody knows how he did it, but he did. He now has the most receptions by any player in the history of the NFL through first 6 seasons. Showing not only talent, yet consistency as well.
The 2019 season he recorded his career high in yards, cracking 1,000 for the first time, ending with 1,174. Earned a 5th pro bowl selection, and had multiple games of 140+ yards receiving.
2020-2021
Not only did Landry come into the 2020 season with a recorded injury that he was going to play through. This was the year of Covid running rampart. Landry missed the first game of his career that season, due to being in close contact with a teammate with Covid.
Even with all the weird stuff going on, he still managed to catch 72 passes for 840 yards in 2020. As well as throwing for his first touchdown, on a 37 yard trick play.
In 2021 he missed games for the first time due to injury, still putting up respectable numbers in the games he did play. Posting 52 catches for 570 yards.
He has not made a pro bowl in 2 seasons at this point, he has not been ranked in the Top 100 NFL Players in a few years. However what he did next was special…
Jarvis Landry, Welcome Home:
His NFL career has come full circle. Before this season, on top of signing with Air Jordan, he signed a one-year deal with his hometown, New Orleans Saints.
Michael Thomas and Jarvis Landry have been two of the top receivers in the league since making their debut. Statistically these two receivers are 1 and 2 on a lot of NFL records list.
Now they can share the field in what might be the best receiving core since the early 2000’s with the Vikings, Rams, and Colts monster receiving cores.
Landry now plays in front of fans and family who grew up in the same neighborhood’s he did.
In his Saints debut where he not only had one of the most iconic catches in franchises history. He was also the leader in catches and yards for New Orleans in week 1 with 7 receptions for 114 yards, sound familiar doesn’t it?
Jarvis Landry will regain his position as one of the top 50 players in this league, get back to the pro bowl, and be a huge part of the Saints success this season.
