Blake Corum vs Iowa
Blake Corum had a career week against the Maryland Terrapins in a 34-27 win for Michigan. After being a secondary back behind Hassan Haskins in 2021 Corum has stepped in and taken full advantage of his increased role. Over 4 games this season Corum is averaging 5.5 yards per carry, including 8.1 over 30 carries in week four. Add on 9 touchdowns on the season which brings him within 2 of his rushing scores from the entire last season. Corum looks to stay hot in week 5 vs one of the tougher Big Ten defenses he’ll face.
The Iowa Hawkeyes enter week five’s matchup also coming off of a win. In their 27-10 victory over Rutgers, Iowa showed off why this may be a litmus test for Corum. The Scarlet Knights were able to rack up only 66 total rushing yards. The Hawkeyes rank highly in every major category when it comes to run defense so far this season. However, through 4 games they have allowed the 6th fewest total rushing yards, 4th lowest yards per rush, 6th lowest rushing yards per game and are tied for allowing the least rushing touchdowns with 0. Corum and the Wolverines offensive line will be tested early and often in this week 5 matchup. First round hopeful Jack Campbell has already racked up 39 tackles from the middle of that defense. If Corum can perform against this front he could see a large bump in his draft stock.
