Week 2 is here! I missed out on a good week last weekend with my bets going 1-2 (-1.55 Units). The big loss was Ekeler not finding the end zone. Brandon Staley decided to call 3 play action passes from the 1 yard line! Oh well, we move on to this week and I am very confident in these bets. The early part of the year is tougher as we get a feel for these teams this season. We will get on a roll and it starts this weekend! Let’s dive into the best bets for Week 2 of the NFL season:
1) New Orleans Saints +2.5 (-110)
What could go wrong betting against the GOAT? In my defense, Tom Brady is 0-4 straight up vs the Saints since joining the Bucs. This includes the year they won the Super Bowl. He got shut out against them 9-0 for one of the only times he has been shut out in his career. This is not a good matchup for Brady and this year’s roster is one of the worst he has had due to injuries. Their offensive line is still ravaged by injuries and got even worse after Week 1. Godwin will still be out for this game so they will have to rely on that running game to have any success in my opinion.
The Saints have been a top tier rush defense every year for the past 4 or 5 seasons. They also know how to put pressure on the QB, which isn’t good when you have the offensive line that Brady is working with this weekend. His only true weapon on the outside is Mike Evans, but Lattimore should be able to contain him as he has proven in the past. In the past 4 regular season games vs the Saints, Evans is averaging only 32 yards per game. They did struggle a little in the 1st half of the Falcons game, but this game is at home and they will be fired up against Brady and company. This should be closer to a pick ’em in my opinion so I will gladly take the +2.5 as a best bet. I think the Saints will win outright!
2) Davis Mills Over 0.5 Interception
I know, this isn’t your normal every day bet, but there is a lot of value on these Interception bets every week, and this was too good to pass up! Mills has thrown at least 1 INT in 5 of his last 6 road games. They now have to go to Denver to play a hungry Broncos team after a tough Monday night defeat to the Seahawks.
The Broncos were able to hold the Seahawks to 0 points in the 2nd half. They really started getting some pressure on Geno Smith last week in that crazy atmosphere in Seattle. This game will be different and I can see them putting a lot of pressure on Mills and causing at least 1 interception. This seems too easy so lock this in as one of my best bets for Week 2!
3) Philadelphia Eagles -1 (-110)
This should be a heck of a game to finish out our week on Monday Night! Both of these teams are out to prove that they belong in the discussion as one of the best teams in the wide open NFC. The Vikings are a much different team on the road. This will be a tough atmosphere to play in with those Eagles fans on their home opener. Kirk Cousins is also someone you want to fade in prime time! Kirk Cousins is 8-17 straight up in prime time games. I don’t see that turning around here on the road against a very good Eagles team.
The Eagles have 2 good CB’s in Slay and Bradberry. I think the combo of them will be able to at least slow down Jefferson. On the other side, the Eagles will put up a lot of points this season. Being at home will help Hurts in the passing game as he will need to be more efficient and throw to more people than just AJ Brown every game. I think this is a game where Hurts can “Hurt” them with both his legs and arm on Monday Night.
I am a fan of both teams this season, but I love the Eagles in this spot at home in prime time vs Cousins and the Vikings at only -1.
Good luck on your wagers!
