The Washington Huskies are dealing with the fallout of Kalen DeBoer leaving to coach Alabama. It happens with all programs that go through a coaching change. Players who committed to play for a certain coach leave once the coach is no longer there. The Huskies lost their future at quarterback when Austin Mack announced he was entering the transfer portal.

Washington Huskies Lose QB Austin Mack To The Transfer Portal
Mack is a 6-foot-6, 230-pound quarterback who was a former four-star recruit out of high school. His decision to enter the portal came hours after it was announced offensive coordinator Ryan Grubb did not get the position of head coach for the program. Mack is an incredibly raw talent who is just 17 years old, but the potential is there. It will be interesting to see what program he lands with.
Many More To Come
Next year might be a rough season for the Huskies. While Alabama moved swiftly to hire their next head coach, Washington’s search is proving to be a little more difficult. All indications are that they will not go with someone in-house and will instead look to land a high-profile coach from another program. As long as they do not have a head coach, I would expect that more and more players will enter the transfer portal.
The Washington Huskies may have a rough 2024, but the foundation is there for them to rebound quickly, depending on who they get to run the team.
