The Washington Huskies have had a rough week. After losing to Michigan in the national championship, head coach Kalen DeBoer announced he was leaving to coach Alabama after Nick Saban retired. As with any program during a coaching change, there is volatility from the players who have committed. Former Mississippi State quarterback Will Rogers has announced that he has decommitted from the program.

Washington Huskies Lose QB Will Rogers
Rogers committed on December 15th and was spotted on the sidelines during the national championship game. Head coach Kalen DeBoer must have been a huge reason for coming to Washington. Hours after the announcement, Rogers decided to re-enter the transfer portal. He threw for over 12,000 yards and 94 touchdowns in four years at Mississippi State. Rogers immediately becomes one of the top transfer portal targets for a team looking for a quarterback.
Possible Programs For Rogers
There are still plenty of programs that are looking for a quarterback. Nebraska could snag a veteran, as Dylan Raiola will only be a freshman. North Carolina could be another top destination as Drake Maye is heading to the NFL. Big Ten programs USC and Wisconsin could look to have a one-year veteran start as younger players develop. There are still plenty of programs that could use a high-quality starter for 2024.
The Washington Huskies will need to find a replacement for DeBoer and fast. If they want to try and compete again next year, the Huskies will need to figure out who their next coach is.
