It is time for Week 2 NFL action on Thursday night, as we will see the Vikings vs. Eagles. The Minnesota Vikings lost at home against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers 20-17, while the Philadelphia Eagles won on the road against the New England Patriots 25-20.
Both teams have some incredible offensive talent, and this should be an interesting battle to see which team can reign supremacy.

    Vikings Key Stats

The Minnesota Vikings had trouble in their opening game at home against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, losing 20-17. Kirk Cousins had an okay game as he finished 33-of-44 for 344 yards with two touchdowns and an interception while also losing two fumbles.

Wide receiver Justin Jefferson was getting a lot of looks as he had nine receptions on 12 targets for 150 yards, while rookie Jordan Addison had four catches on six targets for 61 yards and a touchdown.

The team did not run the ball much, as they had 17 carries for 41 yards (2.4 yards per attempt) and have to show more going forward. Defensively, they did play well, as they allowed just 3.6 yards per play. If Minnesota can figure out how to not turn the football over as much as they did in Week 1, they will be in a great position to pull off an upset.

    Eagles Key Stats

The Eagles were able to walk away with a Week 1 road win as they had a 25-20 victory over the New England Patriots. They looked a little shaky after picking up an early 16-0 lead, but they were able to hang onto it. Philadelphia went just 4-of-13 on third down attempts and 0-of-1 on fourth down tries.

    DeVonta Smith (Monica Herndon)

Quarterback Jalen Hurts finished 22-of-33 for 170 yards with a touchdown pass while running nine yards with 37 yards and a lost fumble. Wide receiver Devonta Smith was able to get seven receptions on 10 targets for 47 yards and a touchdown as well.

Defensively, Philly struggled as they allowed 316 passing yards to Mac Jones with three passing touchdowns. They did force two sacks and seven quarterback hits. They are facing a tougher passing game so it will be interesting to see how they look on a short week without a starting linebacker in Nakobe Dean.

    Game Prediction

The first short week of the season will be interesting, but the Philadelphia Eagles should do well. They can sell out for the passing attack, as Minnesota has been awful running the ball in their first game. The Eagles should do a whole lot better defensively against the passing game than they did in Week 1, and Philly’s secondary should bounce back.

Minnesota had three turnovers on Sunday against a decent Tampa Bay defense, and that will make things difficult. Philadelphia should have a clear advantage in this Vikings vs. Eagles matchup. Philly scored 16 points quickly and should be in a great position to cover the spread at home here with the better overall team.

    Final Pick

    Philadelphia Eagles -7 (-105)
