Miami Dolphins wide receiver Tyreek Hill has his name caught in trade rumors that say he’s returning to the Kansas City Chiefs. However, he himself says that he isn’t going back or anywhere as he is happy playing for his current team.
To say the least, the Dolphins are currently in a slump when compared to their title contender form in 2023, when they were near-unstoppable in the AFC East until the Buffalo Bills put a halt to their run. Now, there have been speculations that the one-time Super Bowl champion will be among those players that will be affected by the midseason roster purge that coach Mike McDaniel admitted to considering after the team lost to the Tennessee Titans on Monday.
The eight-time Pro Bowler himself somewhat acknowledged the rumors, taking to X on Wednesday to play along. “Woke up to trade news, exciting,” he said in his post.
Later that day, Tyreek Hill talked to the media in a presser, downplaying his “excitement” at the possibility of getting traded, saying that he’s happy to remain with the Dolphins.
“I’m just focused on right here and right now,” the six-time All Pro said. “We’ve got a beautiful team here and I want to be a part of it. We’ve got a great situation here, my family loves it, I enjoy it, the weather’s great, the fans are great … Moving forward, I would love to be here—I love being here.”
Tyreek Hill played six seasons with the Chiefs before moving to Miami. He won his first and only Super Bowl championship so far with the Chiefs in 2019.
Tyreek Hill expects different offensive from Dolphins at Patriots
The Miami Dolphins’ next game against the New England Patriots presents an opportunity for a Tyreek Hill resurgence. After injuries to their starters Tua Tagovailoa and Skylar Thompson, the Patriots’ shallow roster presents a significant opportunity for the Dolphins wideout and the rest of the offense led by Tyler Huntley.
“Now Snoop (Huntley) has a chance to understand the system, how guys play,” Hill said in the same media presser. “He’s now had a chance to see how me and [Jaylen] Waddle move, how [De’Von] Achane moves, understand his offensive line, what’s going on up there. Once he has his chance to figure all that out, it’s going to be smooth back there.”
The Dolphins-Patriots game is scheduled on Sunday, October 6, at Gillette Stadium. The kickoff is at 1 p.m. ET on Fox.
