Tua Tagovailoa’s concussion has left the Miami Dolphins with a huge quarterback-sized hole in their lineup. As it stands, an NBA insider has come up with three potential replacements for the quarterback.
Tagovailoa’s journey with the Dolphins has faced significant hurdles this season, particularly following his recent concussion during a Week 2 loss against the Buffalo Bills. After this incident, he was placed on injured reserve, meaning he must miss at least four games. This absence has raised concerns about the Dolphins’ offensive capabilities, especially given their reliance on his exceptional play.
Prior to his injury, Tagovailoa had a stellar 2023 season, leading the NFL in passing yards and guiding the Dolphins to an 11-win record. His impressive performance earned him a four-year, $212.1 million contract extension, with high hopes for continued success in 2024. However, the team has struggled without him, suffering a 24-3 defeat against the Seattle Seahawks, where backup Skylar Thompson was ineffective before also sustaining an injury.
As the Dolphins prepare for upcoming matches against the Tennessee Titans and New England Patriots, the quarterback situation remains uncertain. Head coach Mike McDaniel emphasized the importance of Tagovailoa’s health, stating that there’s no set timeline for his return. The Dolphins are focused on ensuring he recovers fully before stepping back onto the field.
NFL Insider Drops 3 Possible Tua Tagovailoa Replacements for Miami Dolphins
Just recently, ESPN’s Adam Schefter laid down three potential guys who can replace Tagovailoa in Miami’s roster. These players can be seen in a video shared by NFL on ESPN’s official X account.

With Tagovailoa sidelined due to a concussion and backup Skylar Thompson injured, the Miami Dolphins are exploring quarterback options. Schefter suggested pursuing Denver Broncos’ Zach Wilson, Pittsburgh Steelers’ Russell Wilson from Pittsburgh, and Cleveland Browns’ Dorian Thompson-Robinson.
If Tagovailoa cannot return, the Dolphins may face significant challenges in maintaining their status as playoff contenders. The current quarterback roster lacks experience, making it imperative for Miami to address this position effectively. If they need to find one, though, the guys Schefter mentioned would be more than qualified to get the job done for Miami.
