Miami Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa has learned one big and harsh lesson in their Monday Night Football loss to the Tennessee Titans in Week 14: No lead is safe in the NFL.
The Dolphins led by as much as 14 points in the fourth quarter of the game and appeared to be on their way to an easy win. But as time expired, they found themselves on the losing end of a 28-27 contest. That’s right: Will Levis and the Titans just scored 15 unanswered points to secure the comeback.
It was a collapse of epic proportions for the Dolphins, and there’s simply no excuse that would explain how much they blew the game.
Tagovailoa himself admitted that the loss reminded him one of the harsh realities of the NFL, which is “anything can happen” as long as there’s time left on the clock.
Speaking to reporters postgame, Tagovailoa also admitted that there were a lot of things they could have done better offensively to win, but they didn’t. Now, they just have to learn from it.
“It’s the NFL. Anything can happen. We’ve got to do a better job finishing the game with the time that we had while we had the ball, not allowing the opposing team’s offense to get that opportunity to potentially go down and score,” Tagovailoa shared, per AL.com.
“It’s a team sport. You can’t blame one side. But I would say from an offensive standpoint, there’s things that we could have done a lot better to not have gone through what we’ve gone through tonight.”
The loss dropped Tua Tagovailoa and the Miami Dolphins to 9-4 on the season. While they are still on top of the AFC East, they lost ground to the Baltimore Ravens for the conference’s top seed.
Hopefully, Tagovailoa and Co. really remember everything they learned from the loss to the Titans. After all, there’s no more room for mistakes with just four games remaining in the season.
Tua Tagovailoa Not Worried About Miami Dolphins’ December Curse
The brutal loss to the hapless Tennessee Titans is certainly a cause for concern for many Miami Dolphins faithful. After all, the team has a history of losing in December.
As many supporters might recall, the Dolphins lost five straight games towards the end of the 2022 season. They actually lost all their four games in December at the time, and it extended in their post-New Year showdown before they were able to win the last game of the campaign.
Tua Tagovailoa, however, promised that it won’t be the case this time. They are a different team, and the QB is more than confident about what they can do.
“I don’t think this is the same Dolphins team that everyone thinks about,” Tagovailoa added. “We’ve got a lot of really good players. We’ve got really good coaches. It’s one loss at home this year. It’s not like the world ends because we lost this game. We’re human. We’ll continue to get better from this. This is the NFL; no one is perfect. That’s that.”
The Dolphins have a chance to bounce back in Week 15 against the New York Jets. If they can’t take care of business against another struggling squad, then the worries about the team will only intensify.
