When Ohio State’s starting quarterback Kyle McCord entered the transfer portal at the end of last year’s season, many Buckeye fans didn’t know how to feel. He had just led the team to an 11-1 record and was so close to beating Michigan, but he didn’t seem to understand Ohio State football and what it was all about.
Before last year’s Michigan game, McCord said it was just another game, which is a big no if you’re playing in the rivalry. Ohio State and Michigan fans don’t take the rivalry lightly, and when they heard McCord say it was just another game, many people in Columbus were finished with him.
McCord headed east to Syracuse, and the Buckeyes brought in Will Howard from Kansas State. He and Devin Brown will compete for the starting job this season, but Howard seems to know what it takes to be the starter for Ohio State after what he just said about the upcoming season.
Ohio State Is Championship Or Bust
Howard was at the Manning Passing Academy this past week and had high praise for the Ohio State Buckeyes this season. He stated,” For us, It’s natty or bust; I mean, there’s no doubt in my mind’.

It’s good to know that Howard will not be taking any game lightly this season. If the starting quarterback expects the season to be a national championship or bust, that most likely means the rest of the team will follow in his footsteps.
There’s a great chance that this year, during Michigan week, Howard won’t say it’s just another game. Buckeye fans should feel very good that Howard could be the starting quarterback this fall, but he will have to win the job first in August.
