The Tide’s Revenge Tour; Away Schedule Preview 2022

The Alabama Crimson Tide will kick off their season in 45+ days. Nick Saban and his guys will be looking to go on a revenge tour after last season. I earlier examined the HOME schedule for the Tide in my last post.

The Tide fell short of winning last season’s National Championship game against the Georgia Bulldogs. As the final score may implicate that Georgia dominated, Bama led 18-13 with 10 minutes left in the 4th quarter.

    Tide’s Revenge Tour Biggest Question-Defense

There is no doubt that Will Anderson Jr. will be a force to be reckon with this season. The defensive line group will not be a concern, but what about the LB and secondary positions. There were moments where you thought Bama would be a defense in the past. Then moments like allowing 13/20 points in Georgia’s National Championship win in the 4th. Or even games against Arkansas, Texas A&M, and Florida. LSU transfer, Eli Ricks, will need to be a lockdown CB from the occasional shootouts Bama likes to get in from time-to-time.

Here, I will examine the away schedule for the Alabama Crimson Tide revenge tour this season.

    Texas

The first road game of the season and it is NOT an easy one. I am not saying Texas is back, but will be a unique team to deal with the 2nd game of the year. There has not been any buzz on pushing the early game to a primetime slot, so 11am Texas time it will be. UT will have Quinn Ewers at QB, who was a top prospect out of HS. It will be a test for Ewers. Texas also has two former Bama players that will get touches Sept. 10th. I think UT will start off quick against Bama, but the Tide answer their first test, but NOT cover the 15-point spread.

    1-0

    Arkansas

The Razorbacks last season almost put the Tide’s hope to appear to the National Championship to vanish squeezing out a 42-35 victory. Alabama currently rides a 15-game winning streak against Arkansas since 2007. The Crimson Tide have not struggled in Fayetteville since 2014 (14-13 W) and the Razorbacks are returning QB K.J. Jefferson. I expect the struggles from the Texas game will prepare Bama for Arkansas.

    2-0

    Tennessee

The third weekend in October rivalry against the Vols in Knoxville will be tough. Tennessee might have went 7-6 last season, but the offense was explosive. If there is a weakness to any Bama team since Saban’s arrival, is highly explosive offensive teams with great QB play. This is around the same time A&M defeated Bama last season on the road. If there is a slip up matchup, it will be in Neyland Stadium.

    2-1

    LSU

LSU is always a tough matchup for the Tide every year, The Tigers have had the most success against the Tide in the SEC. First-year HC Brian Kelly will get a taste of SEC Bama for the next few years instead of postseason play. Baton Rouge will be tough for the Tide, but I do not see Joe Burrow coming through the gates.

    3-1

    Ole Miss

Get your popcorn ready as Lane Kiffin says when facing Alabama. Kiffin has had Ole Miss electric since his arrival, and I expect that again. I am concerned with the departure of Matt Coral to NFL, who will step up? Their running game should take the next step with TCU transfer Zach Evans. Bama may allow Ole Miss to score 30, but Bama will score 60.

    4-1

Overall, I think Bama can go undefeated, but then I would not be objective and just bias. Their away schedule is tougher than home and Bama will have their hands full if they lose to Texas early. They may go undefeated and that will be great for Tide fans, but do not be surprised if one of these away games sneaks up. Roll Tide!

Seems a little ridiculous to call a season following a national championship appearance a ‘revenge tour’. Revenge for what?

Bama is -16 against texas right now, still think it is a lock. Anderson will have 5 sacks in that game, minimum.

You know how the Tide and Saban are. If they lose the Natty, it’s always trying to get revenge to win it all next year. If they were 10-3 or 8-4 I wouldn’t have put revenge on the title! But mostly every year they are in the playoffs or Natty.

I’m rolling with Texas to cover just for the fact last year Bama was horrible covering large spreads. I look for the week 2 matchup like when Bama played A&M in Cstat 2013 I think. Where A&M was up 14-0 quick, but Bama wins late 49-42.

Can’t wait to do this all year with ya James lol

Have you ever listened to Saban in an interview on his coaching philosophy or The Process? He doesn’t believe in the concept of revenge, it’s outside noise that distracts from what you’re doing today.

It’s actually amusing you’re so scared of texas, I guess you didn’t watch texas against Arkansas last year. A&M 2013 had three All-Americans/1st round NFL Draft picks on offense, including the reigning Heisman Trophy winner, texas doesn’t even know who their starting QB will be (I expect it to be Ewers). Comparing texas 2022 to A&M 2013 is downright laughable. I’m accustomed to Alabama fans who have pride and confidence in their team, you’re worried about a 5-7 team that can’t beat Kansas. It’s like you haven’t looked at the difference between the lines of these two teams at all.

If you want the upper-hand on the James’ battle, go for it. If you want to question my approach on articles or question my knowledge on the sport of college football, have at it.

            1. I never said I was scared of Texas. Do I think a 11am kickoff in Austin, TX facing off against Sark and his offensive mind with QB Ewers throwing the ball to Hall and Billingsley from Bama on the road be tough? Sure and none of those guys I mentioned were on Texas last season as I watch them lose in Fayetteville, Arkansas.

            2. I wasn’t comparing the two teams as they are on the same level. Trust me, I remember being at that game where Manziel throws a 97-yard bomb to Mike Evans and etc. I compared the slow start I expect Bama will do to UT as they did to A&M in 2013, but still won the game.

            3. James lol. You have been real hostile since I considered Jimbo a “good” coach. What sports blogs and debate shows are based on different opinions from sport minded people. You have your ways and I have mine, but you are reacting like I stole something from you and you want it back.

            4. If you want me to say, “Oh Bama is going to come into Austin and steamroll the Longhorns 60-0 because it’s Alabama” There you go, All bias Bama fan.

It was a rebuild year for Texas! Sark is rebuilding with a impressive class right now with arch leading the way! Texas A&M has been rebuilding since 1939 know your place in college football you had one good year! Oh yeah that was a Covid year with that Mickey Mouse orange bowl y’all won! Who’s going to be A&M starting qb the LSU reject?
