The Alabama Crimson Tide will kick off their season in 45+ days. Nick Saban and his guys will be looking to go on a revenge tour after last season.
The Tide fell short of winning last season’s National Championship game against the Georgia Bulldogs. As the final score may implicate that Georgia dominated, Bama led 18-13 with 10 minutes left in the 4th quarter.
Now, the Tide look to as every season comes around to reload, not rebuild. Bama is one of few teams that are bringing back their starting quarterback. Heisman trophy winner, Bryce Young, will lead this Bama offense to potential superior pinnacles than last season.
Tide’s Revenge Tour Biggest Question-Offense
The biggest question on the offense will be who will replace RB Brain Robinson, and WR’s Jameson Williams and John Metchie III? With the transfer portal coming in handy, Bama will lean on guys like RB Jahmyr Gibbs (GT), and WR’s Jermaine Burton (Georgia) and Tyler Harrell (Louisville).
Here, I will examine the home schedule for the Alabama Crimson Tide revenge tour this season.
Utah State
Bama will kick off their 2022 season against Utah State. It is an odd matchup for a team like Bama since recent openers like Miami, Duke, FSU, Louisville, and USC in the past. Still, Utah State is coming off an impressive 11-3 season last year. Victories over teams like Wash St., Air Force, SDSU, and Oregon St. will not compare to Bama, so Utah State is in for it. The series between the two is 1-0 Alabama with a victory back in 2004. I see Alabama taking it to 2-0 in the series.
1-0
UL-Monroe
UL-Monroe was still the last unranked team to defeat a ranked Alabama team, until A&M last season. Back in 2007. I was sadly in attendance for that game when UL-Monroe won. Bama will be coming off their first test of the season against Texas on the road. UL-Monroe last season had the upset of year against Liberty and are bringing back 82% of their offense. Still, this is not the 2007 Crimson Tide they are facing, so let us chalk up another W.
2-0
Vanderbilt
At times, I wonder how Vanderbilt is even an SEC team for football. The Commodores have been at the bottom of the barrel for some time. Alabama has not lost to Vandy in over 37 years and the last two meetings have combined for 93-0. Vandy is bringing back at least 2/3 on both sides of the ball, so I expect them to score for once. Bama walks away with another W.
3-0
Texas A&M
The game of the year for college football fans if you saw the feud between Jimbo and Saban. Alabama will look for revenge after the Aggies defeated the Tide 41-38 in College Station. Since the Aggies entered the SEC, they are 2-8 against the Tide. Playing in Tuscaloosa is tough for anybody, but Jimbo will need to have the same luck as last year to have a chance. I see this game being an emotional one for both teams and the toughest home game for the Tide. In the end, I just do not see A&M getting two in a row on the Tide with Max Johnson under QB.
4-0
Mississippi State
Currently, the Tide are riding a 14-game winning streak against the Bulldogs of Mississippi St, not Georgia. Since the Mike Leach arrival, the air-raid offense has not taken off as expected. Sure, the Bulldogs have had moments, but nothing leaning the dominance direction. The only thing going for the Bulldogs is 84% of their defense returns. Considering that, Bama just beaten Ms. St. 49-9 on the road last year, so it may not help.
5-0
Austin Peavy
The cupcake game every year before the Iron Bowl (exception to 2021 & 2020). This will highlight the possible starters for next year’s team.
6-0
Auburn
The classic Iron Bowl between the two Alabama schools. Last year, Auburn made Bama work for their 24-22 victory. Now, the Iron Bowl is in Tuscaloosa once again. Since the offseason started, Auburn HC, Bryan Harsin, has been questioned about his tactics for departures to his staff and roster. I feel his time with the school is on thin ice depending how they fare this season. To make matters worse, Auburn has not won in Tuscaloosa since Cam Newton was QB. I look for the Tide to start and dominate quick, no playing around on the revenge tour.
