The Texas Longhorns are the top-ranked team in college football entering the Week 5 matchup against the Mississippi State Bulldogs. Texas is 4-0 on the year and they are about to start SEC Conference play.
It is still unknown if junior quarterback Quinn Ewers will return from injury or not this week. If Ewers can’t play this week, Arch Manning will start for the second consecutive week.
NFL Mock Draft Has Texas Longhorns Quinn Ewers Leaping To the Las Vegas Raiders
When the news was announced a week ago that Ewers was not going to be starting for the Longhorns against UL-Monroe, his draft stock plummeted immediately. Some mock drafts had him going late in the first round to the New York Jets and other teams.
In the latest NFL Mock Draft on CBS Sports, Ewers takes a massive leap in this mock draft and he lands with the Las Vegas Raiders at seventh overall. The Raiders will most likely need a quarterback in the 2025 NFL Draft. Chris Trappaso of CBS Sports said:
“Ewers has the physical tools to continue to improve in the NFL, like he’s done in college. The Raiders desperately need a quarterback to represent the long-term future of the organization.”
Gardner Minshew and Aidan O’Connell are the current quarterbacks on the Raiders roster. Quinn Ewers would be an upgrade for Las Vegas in 2025. He needs to get back onto the field and be healthy to have his draft stock go back up.
Ewers Stats
Before he got hurt, Ewers was going to be the favorite to win the Heisman Trophy. If he just misses only one game, there is a chance to get back into the conversation along with Miami Hurricanes quarterback Cam Ward and Jaxson Dart of the Ole Miss Rebels.
Quinn Ewers so far this season with the Texas Longhorns has completed 73.4% of his passes for 691 yards, eight touchdowns, and two interceptions. Ewers is not much of a rusher with one yard rushing on six carries this season. It would be good for the current Longhorns quarterback to throw to wide receiver Davante Adams in the future for the Raiders unless he got traded before then.
