At this point, the Texas A&M Aggies may not have anyone left on the roster in a couple of weeks. Once the transfer portal opened, the Aggies have been bleeding talent from the program. Another member of the secondary, defensive back Tyreek Chappell, announced he is entering the transfer portal.

Texas A&M DB Tyreek Chappell Enters Transfer Portal
Chappell started 30 games for the Aggies over his three-year career. In 2021 he was named a Freshman All-American after he had 40 tackles and nine passes deflected that season. In total, he has over 100 tackles and 20 pass breakups for the Aggies. He will now take his talents elsewhere for 2024. This is yet another massive blow to the Aggies as Chappell would have been a great upperclassmen presence in the locker room.
Leaving In Droves
By my count, this is the 11th player to leave the Aggies program. While that may not seem like a lot in the grand scheme of a football team, it is the importance of the players who are leaving that raises the alarm. Chase Bisontis was a Freshman All-American this year. Former five-star recruits, many of whom were top prospects in their classes are exiting. New head coach Mike Elko has his work cut out for him in 2024.
At this point, we may need to start lowering our expectations for the Aggies in 2024. While Elko may be able to mold this roster into a championship contender, the number of losses right now might be too much to overcome in one year.
