TCU Football wants to move past a lackluster 2023 season and return to its winning ways. An old saying says, “Look good, feel good.” TCU appears to be embracing that saying as it released brand-new uniforms for the 2024 season.
But do the uniforms even look good?
TCU Football Struggled Last Season

Coming off a trip to the National Championship, TCU had a very disappointing season last year, going 5-7 overall. It became one of only a handful of teams to ever play for a National Championship one season and miss a bowl game completely the next season.
TCU was given a tough schedule last year, starting off their season against Colorado. While Colorado didn’t end up panning out, they had a few advantages, including absolutely no film to go off of or scheme against. In all likelihood, if they had played Colorado a week or two later, it would have had a different result.
After the nonconference, TCU had to play Iowa State, Kansas State, and Oklahoma, three of the top teams in the league all on the road. They also had to face Texas and West Virginia. In total, the Horned Frogs played six of the top seven teams in the conference while avoiding three of the bottom six teams.
In other words, if a tough schedule could have been drawn up, TCU wouldn’t have been far from it. Of course, this is still no excuse for missing a bowl game, but it gives some context to how their season went.
New Uniforms Are Clean, Maybe Too Clean?

There has been a recent trend in sports to avoid flashy colors, elaborate designs, and, to some extent, alternative uniforms. TCU’s uniform over the last few years has certainly been elaborate, with scale necks and multi-color designs that featured white, black, and purple jerseys and pants with different shades of grey complementing the colors.
The new uniform combos are much simpler. A plain uniform comes in white, purple, and black, with helmets that match the same style. Purple and grey are still complementary colors used in the numbers, but no additional design exists.
Two new helmet designs stand out: a chrome helmet and a purple-scale helmet that appears to be a purple chrome design.

What do Fans Think?
The early comments on social media suggest that fans aren’t huge fans of the new uniforms. Some suggest that recruits will not be impressed with the new look. Others are confused why TCU would go away from the frog scales that gave TCU a very distinct look and that now they may get confused with East Carolina.
It is worth noting that fans often are skeptical of changing any uniform combination for any team, but eventually, fans warm up to the design and look and embrace it. Whether or not that will happen may depend on whether the Horned Frogs have a better season this year.
B-O-R-I-N-G!!! One thing about the GP Day’s…………our uni’s were spot-on. Nothing boring and we always looked good. No wonder the team played like they were asleep last year………….they already had their PJ’s on.

There's nothing inherently wrong with these uniforms but they're a big downgrade from previous editions
