The Seattle Seahawks need to find a few more players
The Seattle Seahawks were big spenders in free agency. The Seahawks took great pains to remake their defensive unit, which was one of the worst during the 2022 season. They also extended quarterback Geno Smith, hoping the quarterback can continue his hot streak to lead the Seahawks to a deeper playoff run with a remade defense.

The defense is notably better on paper from last year. However, head coach Pete Carroll is not completely satisfied. One problem facing the team in April, the Seahawks are running low on money. According to Over The Cap, the Seahawks have approximately $6 million in cap space. The team has to allocate funds for the draft and keep an emergency fund in place for the regular season.
The Seahawks are planning a recruiting campaign
According to Brady Henderson with ESPN, Seattle Seahawks general manager John Schneider said the team would count on recruiting to fill gaps left on the roster this offseason as the team is low on funds:
Between the deals for Geno Smith, Jones, Jason Myers and the eight other free agents they’ve added or re-signed, the Seahawks have committed more than $71 million in signing bonus money.
That’s what Schneider meant when he told reporters that the Seahawks are “pretty tapped out,” both cap- and cash-wise.
“This will be more of a recruiting process than anything, and I’ll need the players to really help us on that as well as the coaches,” Carroll said, referring to the team’s financial crunch. “But we’ve got some spots that we’ve got to fill, and they’re going to be crucial. I’m hoping some guys will see that this is a great opportunity for them to come in and be part of something really good.”
The Seahawks need a few more pieces to be a threat in a relatively weak NFC conference next season. They will be able to find a few players via the draft later this month.
