The Atlanta Falcons are slowly completing the look of their coaching staff for the 2024 season. It’s hard for the team’s fans not to get excited by the hirings he has been orchestrating as the team is slowly building confidence within the organization.
The latest hire under the Morris era is one that doesn’t grab much attention from casual fans. However, a little digging will show that the Falcons will be up for an exciting 2024 season.
Atlanta Falcons hire Kevin Koger, Tim Berbenich, and others to help Raheem Morris
SportsTalkATL.com’s Alex Lord wrote about the hiring of Atlanta Falcons assistants that would strengthen the squad across all aspects of the game over the weekend:
Morris added five assistants to his staff on Saturday, including offensive assistants Nick Jones and K.J. Black, defensive assistants Lance Schulters and John Timu, secondary coach Justin Hood, senior offensive assistant Ken Zampese, and pass game specialist/ game management Tim Berbenich.
For all his attributes as a candidate, Morris’ ability to fill out an All-Star coaching staff was regarded as among the most desirable. That immediately came to fruition when the Falcons announced that Zac Robinson.
Among the men who were hired to be assistants for the Falcons coaching staff, the biggest coup for the Atlanta Falcons is the tight ends coach for Kevin Koger. The former tight ends coach for the Los Angeles Chargers is terrific at developing tight ends and will be entrusted to transform Kyle Pitts into one of the most dangerous weapons in the NFL.
Pitts is a talented TE who is yet to bounce back to his form during his outstanding rookie season. He only had 667 receiving yards and three TDs to his name on 53 catches during the 2023 season. However, poor QB play and his injuries were contributing factors to him not even coming close to his incredible output during his rookie campaign.
The Falcons hope that with Koger being named the coach and a better QB under center, Pitts would emerge a better player because of it. If these hires work out, then the Atlanta Falcons’ decision to pass on Bill Belichick would be one of the best moves they’ve done.
