The Pittsburgh Steelers got a big win in Week 16 to keep their playoff hopes alive. Now, they have an 8-7 record and are right back in the mix. However, the Steelers have a quarterback dilemma right before these pivotal games. Nevertheless, Pittsburgh has made a decision as to who they will move forward with.
Pittsburgh Steelers Starting Mason Rudolph in Week 17
According to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, QB Mason Rudolph will get the nod to start in Week 17. Rudolph started in Week 16 and helped secure a huge victory over the Cincinnati Bengals. So, how did Rudolph do in that game?
Well, he went 17-27, threw for 290 passing yards, and had two touchdown passes. On top of this, he did not turn the ball over. Considering Rudolph has not made an NFL start in about two years, it was like riding a bike for him.
Kenny Pickett Is Still Sidelined
With this announcement, it means QB Kenny Pickett is likely staying on the sidelines. Pickett was slated to come back from his ankle injury this week. However, the good play from Rudolph is likely delaying Pickett’s return.
It is not like the Pittsburgh Steelers were lighting the world on fire with Pickett. It took 11 games for their offense to outgain an opponent. Now, Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin will hope Rudolph can step up on the road against the Seattle Seahawks.
