The Philadelphia Eagles have been one of the most active teams in the sport since free agency began as they have been able to add a lot of talent. One of the more important positions is the backup quarterback spot as an injury to Jalen Hurts would be devastating. However, we had an in-state trade happen as the Philadelphia Eagles acquired quarterback Kenny Pickett from the and the 120th overall pick in the 2024 NFL draft in exchange for the 98th pick and two 2025 seventh-round picks.
This deal is very similar to the one the Washington Commanders to trade away Sam Howell 24 hours ago. This also gives the Eagles a backup quarterback with some experience after seeing Marcus Mariota leave in free agency.
Kenny Pickett has gone 446-of-713 (62.6 completion percentage) for 4,474 yards with 13 touchdowns and 13 interceptions in his first two seasons with the Steelers (25 games). With the physical nature that Jalen Hurts plays with, it will be significant to get more out of him with the talent surrounding him.
Will the Philadelphia Eagles be able to win the NFC East this season?
The Philadelphia Eagles are going to be an interesting team this season and are looking to get back to form where they won 10 of their first 11 games of the season. They had a lot of changes throughout the coaching staff and roster since the final snaps of the NFC Wild Card against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers but this team has done an excellent job at retooling the roster.
They already added the likes of defensive coordinator Vic Fangio, safety C.J. Gardner-Johnson, defensive end Bryce Huff and running back Saquon Barkley to name a few. With the Dallas Cowboys not adding too much thus far, the gap there has been evident. The Washington Commanders and New York Giants have had some strong offseasons as well but not as great to close the gap.
We still have the 2024 NFL draft but the Philadelphia Eagles should be considered the favorite to win the NFC East.
