NFL Analyst Shockingly Thinks The Philadelphia Eagles Should Bench Jalen Hurts

NFL analyst David Carr just shocked and angered a lot of football fans and analysts on NFL Total Access. On the show, the panel discussed how concerned they are for the Philadelphia Eagles this coming week heading into Texas to play the Dallas Cowboys after the team’s horrific loss to the San Francisco 49ers this past week. When it was Carr’s turn to speak, he put out a take regarding quarterback Jalen Hurts that is sure to stir up some major controversy about whether he should continue to be an NFL analyst.

David Carr’s Claim For Philadelphia Eagles

Carr claims that Hurts is not playing comfortably right now and that the Eagles should bench him and put in backup quarterback Marcus Mariota until Hurts is back to playing at 100%. He claims that Hurts is not fully healthy after suffering a brief injury in last week’s loss to the 49ers even though he came back and finished the game shortly after.

Carr had this to say when reasoning why Philadelphia should bench Hurts and start Mariota for the time being:

I’d say he’s [Mariota] probably playing better at quarterback for the Philadelphia Eagles, right now he’d be more productive.”

He went on to say that Mariota would be the better quarterback to start right now because he is better at rushing than Hurts is. Carr thinks that head coach Nick Sirianni should sit down with Hurts and make the decision to bench him until he is “fully healthy.” He also says that Hurts looks at “the bigger picture of going to the Super Bowl,” and insists that the starting quarterback would understand if Sirianni ended up benching him temporarily.
