Philadelphia Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni is known for being very loyal to his players. This loyalty seems to extend to everyone in the organization. He defended head of security Big Dom after the sideline altercation between him and Dre Greenlaw during Sunday’s game.

Philadelphia Eagles Nick Sirianni Defends Big Dom

Sirianni claims that their head of security was simply trying to play peacemaker during a heated moment on the sidelines.

“Dom is as good as they get in this business. I’m so thankful for him. He is always going to try to defuse situations. That’s what he does, that’s his job. Obviously, unfortunate yesterday. I know in Dom’s heart he truly was trying to defuse the situation right there. I am sad it came to what it came to that anybody got thrown out of the game.”

Sirianni recognized that the situation ended in an unfortunate way but said that there was no malice behind the actions. While this may be true, this isn’t a good look for the Eagles.

    Lots Of Questions

The first and most important question is why was a non-coaching, non-player employee so near to the action on the sidelines. While he may have been trying to play peacemaker, it didn’t work. The situation escalated and both of them got into a heated argument. While Greenlaw has to keep his cool, the Eagles also shouldn’t have staff that isn’t essential to the game so near to the action. If there is no punishment, the lesson is to find some trash-talking employee and put them on the sidelines for the sole purpose of trying to get a rise out of opposing players. The NFL does not and should not want this.

This was one of the strange situations on Sunday. It will be interesting to see what the NFL decides to do in terms of punishment of all parties.
