The Philadelphia Eagles have some free-agent candidates
The Philadelphia Eagles had a stacked team for the 2022 season. The team had pretty good returns for their roster, going to the Super Bowl last season. However, the team came up just short to the Kansas City Chiefs. Now the team is in jeopardy of losing a few key pieces from that team to free agency this offseason.
As of mid-February, the Eagles had 19 players expected to hit free agency. Some of the top names included Javon Hargrave, Fletcher Cox, C.J. Gardner-Johnson, Jason Kelce, and Brandon Graham. The team is also expected to extend quarterback Jalen Hurts after his spectacular season, where he finished second in the NFL MVP race. The team will have limited cap space to bring everyone back next season. According to Over The Cap, the Eagles have just over $3.8 million in cap space for next season.
The limited space could make using the franchise tag hard for the Eagles this offseason. According to Jeff McLane with the Philadelphia Inquirer, the Eagles are not likely to use the franchise tag on any player.

There had been talk of using the tag on C.J. Gardner-Johnson, but using the franchise tag on a safety would cost the Eagles $14.46 million in 2023.
