A roster bonus is given to a player if they are still on the active roster at a specific date in the future, typically in the offseason.
The Philadelphia Eagles pass rusher was set to have a roster bonus due last week, but both parties agreed to delay it.
The Philadelphia Eagles delayed the roster bonus of their 2x Pro Bowler.
According to Jeremy Fowler, Haason Reddick’s $1 million roster bonus was delayed from March 15 to April 1.
There are two reasons why this makes sense.
Reason 1:
First, this gives the team extra time to trade him. There are reports that Reddick wants to be one of the highest-paid players in his position. Currently, his cap hit for 2024 is $21.827 million. The team has close to two more weeks to trade him if they don’t meet his contract demands until his roster bonus is due.
Reason 2:
Second, this gives the team extra time to work things out. As mentioned before, Reddick wants to be one of the highest-paid players in his position. They could use this time to work things out and give him a massive contract extension.
Haason Reddick signed a 3-year contract with the Philadelphia Eagles in 2022.
Reddick signed a 3-year, $45 million contract with Philadelphia during the 2022 offseason and is currently the 18th-highest-paid EDGE rusher in the NFL in terms of APY.
Reddick played in 17 games, starting 17 in 2022, and had 49 tackles, 11 for a loss, 26 QB hits, 16 sacks, three pass deflections, five forced fumbles, and three fumble recoveries. He also had nine tackles, two for a loss, six QB hits, 3.5 sacks, one forced fumble, and one fumble recovery in three playoff games.
Reddick played in 17 games, starting 17 in 2023, and had 38 tackles, 13 for a loss, 23 QB hits, 11 sacks, and one pass deflection. He also had one tackle in the Wild Card round.
Will the Philadelphia Eagles sign Haason Reddick to a massive extension, or will he be traded?
