The Ohio State Buckeyes have become an attractive destination for recruits. In the past couple of weeks, Ryan Day and his staff have landed many of the top players out of the transfer portal and on the recruiting trail. The hot streak continued when four-star offensive tackle Carter Lowe committed to the program.

According to On3, the 6-foot-5, 285-pound tackle is the ninth-ranked offensive lineman in the 2025 class. He is in the top 100 and ranked 85th. The Buckeyes were in a fierce recruiting battle with Georgia and rival Michigan. However, Lowe talked about how much he enjoyed his visits to Columbus.
“I love the program. Ohio State has always been high on my list, and Coach Frye was big in my decision. He was probably the biggest reason because he has had a lot of success at developing guys at Ohio State. I believe he can coach me, develop me and get me where I want to be.”
“I went on a lot of visits during the season, and when I was at the Ohio State-Penn State I started feeling it for Ohio State. I always had them toward the top of my list since they offered, but I really started feeling it at that game. I wanted to take my time, seeing how I felt and nothing changed.”

2024 And Beyond
The Buckeyes are in a tricky spot going into 2024. Despite a 56-8 record and all this talent flooding in, Ryan Day is on the hot seat. He hasn’t beaten Michigan in three years and is 2-4 in bowl games. Fans are becoming tired of all of this talent coming through the program with no national championships, let alone Big Ten championships to show for it. Now that Jim Harbaugh is gone, there is immense pressure to win.
Can the Buckeyes live up to expectations? They have the talent, but it has to translate to high-level play on the field.
