Everyone in Kansas City was holding their breath for the Travis Kelce injury update. The star tight end hyperextended his knee in practice and his week 1 status is in jeopardy. However, reports have come out that the injury is not series and his brother, Jason Kelce, thinks that he could play Thursday against the Detroit Lions.

Travis Kelce Injury Update
When the brothers spoke, Kelce revealed that while there was a lot of swelling, there did not seem to be any structural damage. NFL insider Ian Rapoport echoed this and called the injury a bone bruise. This should make Kansas City fans breathe a sigh of relief. While he could miss week 1, it seems he will see the field in 2023. Kelce has been remarkably durable in his time in the NFL as he hasn’t missed a game in 10 years. It looks like that streak may come to an end but Jason Kelce isn’t ruling it out. Once the swelling goes down, team doctors will be able to know the full extent of the injury.
Pressure On The Wide Receivers
While this Travis Kelce injury update was good, it is time for this young group of pass-catchers to step up. If Kelce is out or even if he is limited, Patrick Mahomes will need to throw the ball to someone. Skyy Moore is a prime candidate as he plays in the slot and Mahomes tends to favor that position. Justyn Ross was a training camp standout and may need to step up sooner than expected. Marquez Valdes-Scantling might need to step up his role as well as he is the veteran of the group. Whomever it is, they will need to step up right away.
The Travis Kelce injury update is a positive one. Fans feared that he was going to be out for the season but now it seems that while he may miss a couple of weeks, he will be fine long-term.
