In the NFL you can go from a starter to a backup instantly. Jimmy Garoppolo is now going to be the back up quarterback to Matthew Stafford after officially signing a one-year contract with the Los Angeles Rams. While he was their facilities he addressed his two game suspension that he will have to begin this 2024 season.
Jimmy Garoppolo Addresses 2 Game Suspension
Garoppolo was issues a two game suspension last month for violating the NFL’s Performance Enhancing Substances Policy. Almost immediately he decided to appeal the NFL’s decision for this two game suspension.
On Tuesday, the quarterback explained why he got the suspension, and that is was in regard to the NFL’s Therapeutic Use Exemption. He supposedly did not follow that and will face a two game suspension in the 2024 season because of that. He was quoted saying:
“Just messed up the T.U.E, really,” Garoppolo said, via The Athletic. “That was … I hate to joke about it, but I just messed up the T.U.E. when I first got to Las Vegas. … Bad timing, I guess.”
Can Jimmy Garoppolo Revitalize His Career With Sean McVay?
While Jimmy will be the back up for Stafford, Stafford has been injury prone the last few seasons. Jimmy may have the opportunity to see the field in the future, and there no coach a quarterback rather have than Sean McVay.
Garoppolo is hoping that he can revitalize his career with the rams and with McVay. He will also have the opportunity to sit behind another great quarterback in Matthew Stafford. However, if sitting behind Tom Brady in his prime did not help, it’s pretty doubtful Stafford would. Garoppolo was quoted saying:
“Rams came in about midway through and I fell in love with the place,” he said. “They were straight to the point, very professional — which I appreciated — and there was no messing around. Excited to be here, it’s gonna be fun.”
