The Philadelphia Eagles ended their season on an embarrassing stretch losing 6 of their last 7 games with their offense looking mediocre at best. It seemed they really missed their coordinators from the previous season. Head coach Nick Sirianni had to give the owner his plan for how to get back on track next season and they just made a hire to do exactly that.
Philadelphia Eagles Hire Kellen Moore
The team has turned to former rival and Dallas Cowboys offensive coordinator Kellen Moore for their new offensive coordinator. Moore coached the Cowboys to three top 6 offenses in his four years with Dallas. Now that Jim Harbaugh is in for the Los Angeles Chargers job. Kellen Moore who spent the past year there will be the Eagles’ new offensive coordinator, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported Saturday evening.
Moore replaces Brian Johnson, who was fired after three years with the Eagles, this past season as offensive coordinator. Moore will be the Eagles’ third offensive coordinator in three years now and can hopefully create some stability with up and coming quarterback Jalen Hurts.
Sirianni said on Wednesday that he wanted to bring in someone with fresh ideas and mix them with a little of what the team has been doing the past two years. He was quoted saying,
“We’re bringing in a guy to bring in new ideas, to do the things that he’s done in the past,” he said Wednesday. “It’d be crazy not to add some of the things that we’ve done in the past here, as well.”
Can Kellen Moore Make The Philadelphia Eagles Offense Great Again?
The Eagles were the 7th ranked overall offense this past season but they looked abysmal down the stretch. For a team that was a few plays from winning the Super Bowl last year, and one of the best offenses in the league, this season was a major down year.
Moore has proven that he can run a great offense and with the players in Philadelphia they should be able to bounce back. Hurts has been a winner ever since he came into the league and with AJ Brown and Devonte Smith, this team has all the right pieces to be one of the best offenses in the league. Getting Moore early is great for the team as they can now begin to put their full focus in to next season.
Sirianni knows that this hire is very important for Hurts as they will need to be able to work well together to bring out the best in everyone. Sirianni was quoted saying:
“It’s really important that those two guys are going to work hand in hand to make sure we’re getting back to where we need to be,” Sirianni said.
Moore will look to start working with Hurts as soon as possible as this is a team that can win the whole thing. Eagles fans however, have had conflicting views on the new hire.
