With the 245th pick in the seventh round of the 2024 NFL Draft, the Green Bay Packers select quarterback Michael Pratt. The three-star recruit can provide an added boost to the Packers’ quarterback class.
Michael Pratt NFL Draft Scouting Report
Michael Pratt is a great functional athlete that provides a lot of power and balance.
“Pratt’s toughness and aggressive mentality are the basis of his game,” Bleacher Report’s Scouting Report said of the QB. “He is fearless in the pocket. At least a few times per game, Pratt will take a clean hit to ensure he delivers a ball where it needs to go.”
He’s good for making those big, clutch plays for the team, serving in a team-first mentality. Tulane offensive coordinator Slade Nagle said that the quarterback throws the ball down the field very well, saying “he’s got good arm strength. He throws a good accurate ball down the field.”
The scouting report from Lance Zierlein of NFL.com reads in part:
“Highly experienced and a respected team leader, Pratt has shown consistent improvement from season to season. Pratt has done a nice job of making safe decisions instead of reckless ones and throws with touch over all three levels.
“He struggles to throw with consistent accuracy and placement on immediate throws. Also, he appears to lack the anticipation and field awareness to beat NFL coverage across the field. Pratt has Day 3 potential but will be in a battle to win a future backup role.”
Matt Bowen of ESPN described how Pratt is the best quarterback within the class with touch and timing, adding, “I like Pratt here because of his ability to layer throws over second level defenders and put touch on the deep ball.”
He did good at the NFL Combine, but it wasn’t something worth considering Pratt to be a starter over a quarterback like Jordan Love. Pratt can probably serve as a good third-string, especially in his rookie year as he’ll have years to grow. With Love being Green Bay’s top choice and QB1, Pratt will have a good mentor to learn from.
