The New Orleans Saints have had a tough time getting their preferred backfield together in 2023. Between injuries and the Alvin Kamara suspension, it has been a rotating group of players. The team got some good news ahead of their Thursday night game against the Jaguars. Offseason signing Jamaal Williams will be activated and play in the game.
New Orleans Saints Get RB Jamaal Williams Back
Williams suffered a hamstring injury in week 2 and has been out ever since. Soft tissue injuries are often challenging and the Saints have not wanted to rush him back. This will be the first time this season that Alvin Kamara and Williams will be on the field at the same time. The Saints’ offense has been inconsistent and are hoping to find their groove in the run game. This will take pressure off of Derek Carr as defenses will have to take the run game more seriously.
Can The Saints Take The South?
This is far from a must-win for the Saints but sitting at 3-3 in a crowded NFC South means that every win counts. It will likely not take many wins in order to take the division crown and the Saints are one of the favorites. Consistency will be the key factor in whether this team can be good enough to make the playoffs. Part of that is getting their players back on the field. Tonight is also a unique opportunity because quarterback Trevor Lawrence is not 100% and there is a question whether he will play at all. This might be one to steal for the Saints.
Jamaal Williams is one of the most fun players in the league and it will be great to see him back on the field for the New Orleans Saints.
