The Kansas City Chiefs are back to back Super Bowl champions for the first time in two decades. This gave Patrick Mahomes his third Super Bowl before the age of 30 and it does not look like he is stopping any time soon. Mahomes was asked after the Super Bowl how many of these he would like to win and he was quite honest in answering that question. Now after getting his third the talk of comparing him with 7 time Super Bowl champion Tom Brady has become a much more intense debate.
Kansas City Chiefs’ Patrick Mahomes Says He’s Going For 7
It is official now that Kansas City has built a dynasty and one that could easily add on a few more of these Super Bowls when it is all said and done. When asked how many Super Bowls Mahomes wants to win he was quite candid in his response.
Mahomes said, “the goal is always seven.” But he added to that saying that he wants to be the best he can be and that everything else will figure itself out.
“Yeah, I think it’s more just me trying to be the best I can be,” Mahomes said, via ProFootballTalk. “I don’t want to have any regrets at the end of my career. And I know how great of an organization, how great of a coach, tight end, players that I have around me. And I don’t want to let that slide by. I want to make sure I maximize my opportunities.”
Mahomes knows he is chasing the greatest to ever do it and that he may be the only player ever to have a chance of over coming Brady in greatness and wins.
Patrick Mahomes Can Be The Goat One Day
Mahomes knows that seven is the special number as that is not only the number of Super Bowls Brady has, it is a number that no franchise in the NFL has.
“Obviously, the goal is always seven [rings] — it’s always to try and get as much as you can. And so, all I can do is try to maximize my opportunities every single day, continue to work to be better not only for myself, but for my team. And we’ll see what happens at the end of my career.”
Having made it to three now, and almost half way to Brady’s mark before turning 30 years old works in Mahomes favor. He will have many more opportunities to add to that number as besides for Joe Burrow there doesn’t seem to be a player that can take Mahomes down.
Brady added two Super Bowls to his resume in his 40s and both of those came with beating Mahomes. In the Super Bowl, and the AFC championship. Right before Brady retired, he added two to his list and took two away from Mahomes, so it will still be a challenge to get to seven.
