Adam Schefter appearance on The Pat McAfee Show
NFL Insider Adam Schefter made an appearance on The Pat McAfee Show, saying that he would “take the over” that more than 7 NFL Coaches would be fired in the offseason. This would be significant given that a number of these coaches had terrible seasons after an unprecedented amount of season-ending injuries crushing NFL seasons.
“I believe we’re gonna have anywhere between seven and ten Head Coaching changes this year..

Schefter went on the record saying, “There’s always somebody winning and always somebody losing, and the people that are losing are getting criticized, and coming under scrutiny, and people are getting unhappy. And you get an owner coming out of locker rooms, dropping F-bombs, and saying the next morning, ‘Hey, Coach, you’re out.’ Which is something he’s been thinking of doing for weeks now anyway.”
Underperforming Head Coaches at Risk?
There is a long list of teams that have substantially underperformed this season that might have head coaches facing the chopping block this offseason. Leading the pack would be Patriots Coach Bill Belichick. While having an undoubted hall-of-fame career, the Patriots have plummeted to only two wins so far this season while the decision to gamble on quarterback Mac Jones in the 2021 NFL Draft.
Other teams at a critical junction that might be potentially looking for a change at the top coaching position would be the Tampa Bay Buccaneers (Todd Bowles), Washington Commanders (Ron Rivera), Chicago Bears (Matt Eberfleus), Los Angeles Charges (Brandon Staley) and New Orleans Saints (Dennis Allen). As it appears that there are more head coaching candidates available, teams are feeling less loyal to their top coaching position.
