After losing in this year’s divisional round to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers with a score of 32-9, the Philadelphia Eagles have had drama with multiple players surrounding contract talks and how their season ended. The Eagles were only victorious in 1 game out of their last 6 to end the season after starting 10-1 in their first 11 contests.
Eagles Linebacker Hasson Reddick Claims He “Never Asked for a Trade”
One of those players surrounded by drama is All-Pro edge rusher Hasson Reddick, who recorded 11 sacks and a forced fumble with 29 total tackles in 2023. Reddick is heading into the last year of his deal and has no guaranteed money left included. He was rumored to be asking for a trade after not receiving an extension this off-season, but those rumors have since been shut down.
Never asked for a trade. However, I do understand it’s a business. Preparing for whatever is next! https://t.co/KwNaAUl7HO

Along with denying the trade rumors that were sparked a few days ago, Reddick believes that his team and the Eagles front office can come to an agreement that suits both parties. Reddick also stated that at no point did he tell Philadelphia that a trade was in his wishes and would like to get an extension done for the future with his hometown team.
Eagles Would Save 11.38 million in Cap Space with Reddick Extension
Reddick has one year left on his deal and will hit free agency if he is not extended by the end of next year. Due to the 21.87-million-dollar cap hit for next season, the Eagles extending Reddick’s contract would save them 11.38 million dollars in cap space.
Despite the productive season and extra cap space, Reddick will be in his thirties by the time his contract is up. Philadelphia will have to make a decision whether to extend Reddick or trade him away before next year’s trade deadline.
