The Atlanta Falcons have officially agreed to sign free agent quarterback Kirk Cousins in a huge contract. Cousins’ time with the Vikings is officially over. Multiple reports came out that Cousins has agreed to sign a 4 year deal with the Falcons. The star quarterback is coming off a torn Achilles injury and is expected to be fully healthy for the 2024 season.
Atlanta Falcons Are Breaking The Bank For Kirk Cousins
The team will break the bank for this four year deal for Cousins, as it has now been reported by NFL insider Tom Pelissero that the team is set to give him an $180 million contract that includes a $50 million signing bonus. This a monster pay day for Cousins yet again.
“Kirk Cousins, the top free-agent QB on the market, has agreed to terms with the Atlanta Falcons, per sources. The Vikings pushed strongly for Cousins’s services, but in the end, the Falcons were going to go as far as they needed to make this happen,” NFL insider Dianna Russini reported.
The Falcons now have the opportunity to run away with their division with Kirk at the helm.
“The #Falcons are signing Kirk Cousins to a four-year, $180 million contract that includes a $50M signing bonus, per sources. Another monster payday for Cousins, who gets $100 guaranteed — $90M in 2024 and ‘25, plus another $10M in 2026 — and a fresh start in Atlanta at age 35.”
The Atlanta Falcons Now Have A Very Scary Offense
The team will bring in Cousins to an offense that is stacked all around. With Drake London, Bijan Robinson, and Kyle Pitts, Cousins will have a plethora of weapons to throw too. The NFC South is not a strong division and Kirk could come in and take it over.
This Atlanta team was a quarterback away as they have a star studded young defense and numerous juggernauts on offense. Now with the Kirk signing, the team will have a scary offense in the 2024 season. First year head coach Raheem Morris has his work cut out for him now as the team will have a lot of expectations going into next season.
