The New York Jets are entering a make-or-break year this 2024 NFL season. Future Hall of Fame quarterback Aaron Rodgers is back after tearing his Achilles four snaps into the 2023 season, his first with the franchise. While he is back, even the four-time NFL MVP knows that the team does not have a big window in which to find success.
Earlier this offseason, he told reporters, “I think if I don’t do what I know I’m capable of we’re all probably going to be out of here.”
Rodgers is entering his 20th season in the NFL and will turn 41 years old in December. His message is quite clear: if he and the Jets do not put together a successful season, several coaches and himself will probably not be welcomed back in 2025.
While his goal is to play for a few more seasons, there is no telling how much time Rodgers has left in the NFL. That is, perhaps, why he has the ultimate goal for this year: winning the Super Bowl.

According to Steve Serby of the New York Post, Rodgers has stated, “The goal is New Orleans.” That, of course, is the city in which Super Bowl LIX will be held.
Rodgers went on to say, “The beauty is, every single year there’s 8 to 12 teams, maybe — probably less — but 8 to 12 teams that can actually do it, and we’re one of those 8 to 12.”
Rodgers stops short of the famous Joe Namoth prediction, guaranteeing a win before Super Bowl III. However, he certainly has a great deal of confidence in the players that the Jets have put around him.
Garrett Wilson is drawing rave reviews, once again, during training camp. Allen Lazard, who had the worst full season of his career last year after signing a $44 million contract, is also off to a hot start with Rodgers back under center.
In addition to these incumbents, New York went out and got former Los Angeles Chargers wide receiver Mike Williams and beefed up their offensive line.
On paper, the Jets should be much better than the team that finished 7-10 last season.
However, in order to win the Super Bowl, Rodgers is going to have to overcome some troublesome history of his own.
New York Jets Quarterback Aaron Rodgers Has Not Performed Well in the NFL Playoffs

While it is true that Rodgers has a Super Bowl ring and MVP under his belt, it is also true that he has struggled mightily in the NFL Playoffs aside from the year he won it all with the Green Bay Packers.
For his career, Rodgers has a career record of 12-10 in the postseason. From 2011 through 2021 (the last Rodgers played in the playoffs) his record is 7-9.
Granted, not all of the losses, if any, were his fault. In a team sport like football, no one person is ever to blame.
The fact of the matter, though, is that Rodgers ended Green Bay’s playoff runs with ill-advised throws that were intercepted on more than occasion.
He will have to overcome his own hubris and recent history of being a postseason choker if the Jets are to have any hope of winning another Super Bowl.
