The New York Giants have a tough quarterback situation when it comes to Daniel Jones. Due to his large contract, Jones is under the microscope not just by Giants fans but the entire football world.
Unfortunately, his training camp performance has not been impressive to most people. One NFL expert even went out of their way to bash him compared to the other 31 starting quarterbacks. Read below to find out who it was and what they said about Jones.
Matthew Berry Bashes Daniel Jones
Matthew Berry is one of the most respected names in the football world. He is arguably the reason why fantasy football is as popular as it is today. So, when Berry points out the performance of a player, people tend to listen.
Earlier today, Berry made his thoughts known on New York Giants QB Daniel Jones. Well, let’s just say that it was far from pleasant for Giants fans to hear:
“My timeline is nothing but really nice training camp plays from 31 NFL teams and bad passes by Daniel Jones.” -Matthew Berry
Bad Signs From Training Camp
This is not the first time we have heard negative things said about Daniel Jones at training camp. Less than a week into this, multiple people have pointed out how bad Jones looks throwing passes at training camp.
A few days ago, one reporter pointed out how many deep passes Jones missed during one day at training camp. This included an easy touchdown pass to Giants WR Wan’Dale Robinson.
New York Giants Sticking With Daniel Jones?
At the time of writing, there has been no indication that the Giants will move off of Daniel Jones despite how bad he has looked. However, make no mistake about it. Jones’ job is on the line this season. That is because the Giants do have the option to opt out of his contract in 2025 if they choose to do so.
New York has two other options at the quarterback position if they choose to move off Jones this season. The first option is Drew Lock, who used to be the backup quarterback for the Seattle Seahawks. The Giants signed him this offseason to replace Tyrod Taylor as the team’s backup quarterback.
Then, there is Tommy DeVito, who won over the hearts and minds of Giants fans during his rookie campaign. We will have to see if the Giants give one of these quarterbacks a chance to win the starting job this season.
