The Green Bay Packers are quickly narrowing down the kicker battle in training camp. All offseason, second-year kicker Anders Carlson has been defending his starting job from last season. Carlson had a disappointing rookie campaign, and the Packers have fielded a kicking competition since OTAs.

As previously discussed on GH, the Packers’ main kicking battle is between Carlson and Greg Joseph:
The Packers have brought in multiple kickers over the course of their offseason workouts, but now the race is down to just two: Carlson and former Minnesota Vikings kicker Greg Joseph.
According to Ryan Wood of USA Today, both kickers are having very strong camps thus far.
As one can see, Carlson and Joseph have each attempted 21 kicks and have made 19 of them. One would think that if they remain neck-and-neck all through camp and the preseason, Carlson will get the edge because of his rookie contract.

Per a statement by the Packers, the team signed long snapper Peter Bowden, cornerback Don Calis, and cornerback LJ Davis. The Packers released three players in order to make room for the newly signed Packers. The Packers released cornerback Zyon Gilbert, fullback Henry Pearson, and kicker James Turner.
The Packers claimed Turner off waivers from the Lions in June. He is a rookie this season, and he spent last season helping the Michigan Wolverines win a national title.
