The New York Jets started the 2023 NFL season full of hope that at last, with Aaron Rodgers running the offense on the field, they would be seriously contending for the Super Bowl title. That dream quickly went up in flames the moment Rodgers fell to the ground in Week 1 in pain. Essentially, Rodgers’ injury officially ended the season right away for the Jets.
That disastrous 2023 campaign led to New York Jets owner sending a not-so-subtle message to head coach Robert Saleh and general manager Joe Douglas that the 2024 NFL season will determine whether they would continue to have their jobs beyond the upcoming campaign.
Despite that sort of ultimatum, Douglas doesn’t seem to be losing sleep over it this offseason.
Via Rich Cimini of ESPN:
“The pressure is always intrinsic in this job whenever you walk in every day,” Douglas said, “but I can tell you that we’re not stressed.”
The New York Jets Have All The Pressure To Win With Aaron Rodgers In 2024
The New York Jets will try to give it a go again with Rodgers in 2024. Rodgers, who signed a three-year deal worth $112.5 million with the team back in July 2023, is expected to be healthy for the 2024 season. At 40 years old, Rodgers’ best days are now behind him, but on his shoulder rests Douglas and Saleh’s hope to keep their jobs.
