The New York Jets did not have the best season in 2023. While they were excited to get things started after bagging Aaron Rodgers during the preseason, their hopes were immediately dashed when he was brought down by a nasty torn Achilles that shut him down for most of the season.
While Rodgers tried everything he could to return to the Jets before the season was over, he didn’t manage to get back in shape and had to watch his new team endure another losing season.
With his chances of returning on time shot down, there was nothing the one-time Super Bowl champion could do but focus on strengthening his body to prepare for the 2024 campaign
His focus on developing his body seems to already be giving dividends as reports emerged about Rodgers gaining the benefits of his physical training.
Aaron Rodgers looks buff as the New York Jets prepare for big 2024 offseason
The Spun’s Kameron Duncan wrote about the progress some analysts have identified from Rodgers, and they seemingly liked the changes they saw in his body:
According to Ian O’Connor, who wrote an upcoming biography on Rodgers, the four-time MVP is “pretty jacked in the upper body.”
O’Connor says that Rodgers confirmed that “he got bigger” and that he “looks ready for a fight.”
Conditioning and rehab are the primary focus for Rodgers as he prepares to do what few athletes have done in the past, especially at his age.
The fact that Rodgers is strengthening his body at his age shows his commitment to staying healthy for the New York Jets next season. It’s unlikely that Rodgers’ skills regressed so soon, with his last full season with the Green Bay Packers seeing him pass for 3695 yards and 26 TDs.
With the team also taking proactive steps in providing quality weapons to Rodgers, it wouldn’t be strange to expect the team to bounce back come the start of next season. It’s now up to the rest of the team to step up and provide Rodgers the quality of football he needs to do his magic.
