The New York Giants have the sixth pick in the 2024 NFL Draft and wide receiver Marvin Harrison Jr. from the Ohio State Buckeyes has been floated all over the place in mock drafts. Harrison Jr. can very well be the best wide receiver in the 2024 NFL Draft.
A season ago with the Buckeyes, he caught 67 passes for 1,211 yards receiving and 14 touchdowns, along with averaging 18.1 per reception. Ohio State’s offense ran a lot through him a season ago. That is how they were so successful.
You can argue that he is one of the best wide receiver prospects since Calvin Johnson when he was selected second overall in the 2007 NFL Draft by the Detroit Lions. Johnson played college football with the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets.
In the latest CBS Sports Mock Draft by Ryan Wilson, he has the Giants selecting Harrison Jr. with the sixth overall pick. His reasoning for this selection was:
“Best-case scenario for the Giants, who stand pat and have Marvin Harrison Jr. fall in their laps.”
In the top five of his mock draft, he has Caleb Williams going number one to the Chicago Bears, Jayden Daniels going number two to the Washington Commanders, Drake Maye going number three to the New England Patriots, Malik Nabers to the Arizona Cardinals at number four, and a Minnesota Vikings trade up at number five with the Los Angeles Chargers for quarterback J.J. McCarthy.
It is interesting that some people think that Nabers is going to be selected ahead of Harrison Jr. in the 2024 NFL Draft. The fact that four quarterbacks could be drafted ahead of Marvin Harrison Jr. is honestly laughable because some of them may not be better football players than Harrison Jr.
The New York Giants and Its Fan Base Would Be Thrilled If Marvin Harrison Jr. Was the Selection At 6
It was just a dream for the longest time that Harrison Jr. was going to be a member of the Giants, but that dream can very well be a reality in three weeks from today. There wouldn’t be a single New York fan that would be upset if they landed him in the 2024 NFL Draft.
Marvin Harrison Jr. is a playmaker and a home run hitter that the Giants offense needs badly. They have other good wide receivers on the roster, but Harrison Jr. would be the best wide receiver on the roster instantly. He would work with any quarterback. The question after that for the New York Giants will be are they sticking with Daniel Jones, going with Drew Lock, or going with someone else? Time will tell.
