The Green Bay Packers are one of the most exciting teams in the NFL going into the 2024 season. Quarterback Jordan Love is expected to be one of the best players at his position this year, just as he was down the stretch last year. Additionally, Love’s group of pass catchers will have another year of NFL experience under their belts. Last year, they were all either rookies or second-year players.
This group of pass catchers does not have any household names on it (yet), but they ended the 2023 season as one of the most balanced groups in the NFL:
Player | Receptions | Yards | Touchdowns |
Romeo Doubs | 59 | 674 | 8 |
Christian Watson | 28 | 422 | 5 |
Jayden Reed | 64 | 793 | 8 |
Dontayvion Wicks | 39 | 581 | 4 |
Malik Heath | 15 | 125 | 1 |
Bo Melton | 16 | 218 | 1 |
Luke Musgrave | 34 | 352 | 1 |
Tucker Kraft | 31 | 355 | 2 |
Ben Sims | 4 | 21 | 1 |
As seen above, wide receiver Jayden Reed tied for the team lead in touchdown receptions last season. He also led the team in both receptions and receiving yards.
Unfortunately, he is going to miss the starting of training camp due to injury.
Green Bay Packers Wide Receiver Jayden Reed to Open Training Camp on the Non-Football Injured List (NFI)
The Packers start training camp on Monday, as many NFL teams do. Players, however, started reporting on Sunday so that they would be in the building and on time for camp.
On Sunday evening, it was reported that Reed is one of three Packers players that will begin training camp on the NFI:

As one can see in Rapoport’s post above, cornerback Corey Ballentine and offensive tackle Caleb Jones are also starting camp on the NFL.
Reed and Ballentine were important contributors for Green Bay last year. While the nature of their injuries is not known, there is no question that they will return to their roles once healthy.
Jones, however, is already facing an uphill battle to make the team.
Green Bay Packers Wide Receiver Jayden Reed Broke a Franchise Record Last Season
As mentioned previously, Reed led the Packers in receptions and receiving yards while tying teammate Romeo Doubs for the team lead in touchdown receptions. While Reed may not have put up the wild numbers of a player like Justin Jefferson, he did make some significant history for Green Bay.
His 64 receptions as a rookie smashed the rookie record of 55, previously held by Packers Hall of Famer Sterling Sharpe, whom many feel should be in the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
Indeed, Reed’s rookie campaign was among the best ever in the history of a franchise that dates back over 100 years:
Wide Receiver | Year | Receptions | Yards | Touchdowns |
Billy Howton | 1952 | 53 | 1,231 | 13 |
James Lofton | 1978 | 46 | 818 | 6 |
Sterling Sharpe | 1988 | 55 | 791 | 1 |
Jayden Reed | 2023 | 64 | 793 | 8 |
Hopefully Reed is not out long for the Packers, and it is not a long-term injury. He is capable of putting up very big numbers in this offense.
