The Houston Texans have been one of the teams that made some big splashes during the offseason as they traded for wide receiver Stefon Diggs. However, that was not the only move made to bolster the offense as NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport is reporting that the team is signing free agent running back Cam Akers.
Cam Akers was limited to just seven games last season between the Los Angeles Rams and the Minnesota Vikings before a torn Achilles would end his season. He finished with 60 carries for 167 yards (2.8 yards per attempt) with a pair of touchdowns while also having 11 catches on 12 targets for 70 yards (6.4 yards per reception).
He won a Super Bowl with the Rams earlier in his career as the lead running back so he definitely brings playoff experience to a young roster, despite being only 25 years old. The Houston Texans continue to bolster their roster and now have solid options at the running back spot with Joe Mixon, Dameon Pierce and Cam Akers in the backfield.
Can the Houston Texans win the Super Bowl this season?

There is a lot of excitement surrounding the Houston Texans after succeeding incredibly well in Year 1 of coach DeMeco Ryans and quarterback CJ Stroud. Now with the expectations extremely high, there is going to be pressure to continue ascending.
According to DraftKings Sportsbook, the Houston Texans have the eighth-best odds to win the Super Bowl this season (+1600). Below are the teams with better odds right now.
- Kansas City Chiefs (+500)
- San Francisco 49ers (+600)
- Baltimore Ravens (+1000)
- Detroit Lions (+1200)
- Cincinnati Bengals (+1300)
- Philadelphia Eagles (+1500)
- Buffalo Bills (+1500)
This shows that there are a lot of teams expecting to make the Super Bowl this season, specifically from the AFC. They completely revamped their offense with some major additions but it is going to be tough to expect them to defeat the Kansas City Chiefs in the playoffs.
They have to prove they can be a serious contender before expectations come in terms of playoff success. The Houston Texans were an incredible story last season but they need to show they are serious threats throughout the regular season if they want to be on that level.
