On Sunday evening, the Green Bay Packers were able to agree to an extension deal for one of their star players. The Packers had two crucial contract extensions they wanted to complete before the season started.
The Green Bay Packers have high expectations for the 2024 season
The Packers have high expectations heading into the 2024 season after they won a playoff game on the road against the Dallas Cowboys last year with the league’s youngest team. The Packers needed to find a way to keep veteran quarterback Jordan Love and veteran defensive tackle Kenny Clark on the roster as their young team looks to take the next step.
Kenny Clark thought he was one of the best DL last season
As previously discussed on GH, Clark said he believed he was one of the best defensive linemen in the league last season:
“It’s definitely right at the top,” said Clark during his recent interview with the Green Bay Packers media when asked to summarize 2023. “I’m proud about how I played, moving around this year, and playing a lot of the five, adjusting to that.”
“I think I’ve been really consistent all year and had my career high in sacks and a lot of things this year,” added Clark.
According to Ian Rapoport with the NFL Network, Clark is set to sign a three-year contract extension worth $64 million. The Packers will pay Clark $29 million for the 2024 season.

Before Sunday’s deal, Clark was set to play on the final year of his contract. Clark signed a four-year deal worth $70 million before the 2020 season. The new deal will give him a substantial raise.
The Packers have yet to extend Love’s contract. His negotiations could be harder before the regular season, as Love is expected to earn close to $55 million per year.
