It is no secret that the New York Giants are going to be starting over at the quarterback position in 2025. While they did re-sign Tommy DeVito earlier this offseason, there is no realistic thought that he will be their starter any time soon.
Instead, the team is almost undoubtedly going to be picking a quarterback early in the upcoming NFL Draft. However, the Giants also want to make sure that they do not rush whatever potential franchise quarterback they select into game action too early. As such, they have been linked to several high-profile veteran free agent quarterbacks who could serve as a bridge.
And one of these is future Pro Football Hall of Famer Aaron Rodgers.
The New York Giants Have Expressed Interest in Aaron Rodgers

For weeks, the Giants have been one of the teams that has been reported to be interested in possibly signing the four-time NFL MVP. However, they are not the only ones.
Rodgers was rumored to be interested in signing with the Minnesota Vikings. However, his former NFC North rivals recently informed that they will not be pursuing him, at least, not right now. That could change depending on how JJ McCarthy looks during spring workouts.
Additionally, the Pittsburgh Steelers have gone so far as to have the parameters of a contract in place with Rodgers. He even spent six hours on Friday at their team facility meeting with Steelers coaches and officials.
But he left without signing a deal.
All the while, the Giants have explored other options in the event that they missed out on Rodgers. They even had Super Bowl-winner Russell Wilson expressing his desire to sign with them.
However, they have chosen to go in a different direction.
The New York Giants Have Signed Jameis Winston

Instead of Wilson, the Giants have seemingly decided to sign former Pro Bowl quarterback Jameis Winston, who broke the news himself on X (formerly Twitter):

Winston played 12 games (starting five) for the Cleveland Browns last season, completing 61.1% of his passes for 2,121 yards, 13 touchdowns, 12 interceptions, and an 80.6 passer rating.
Prior to 2024, Winston spent four seasons as a backup for the New Orleans Saints.
And, of course, he was the first overall pick in the 2015 NFL Draft by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He spent five seasons in Tampa, making the Pro Bowl as a rookie. He is most-remembered for his 2019 season that saw him become the first quarterback in NFL history to throw 30+ touchdowns while also throwing 30 interceptions.
