The New York Giants are watching their quarterback options fall by the wayside.
Sam Darnold signed with the Seattle Seahawks, Russell Wilson and Aaron Rodgers remain in the mix to land in East Rutherford this fall, but both are well into the back-nine of their playing career and have diminished significantly in recent years, neither are long-term options.
What the Giants could still do, is trade up to the No. 1 overall pick in the NFL Draft, in a blockbuster move with the Tennessee Titans.
Could the New York Giants Trade Up for Cam Ward?

That’s the exact scenario that plays out in Pro Football Focus’ latest mock draft projection, which has the Giants sending the Titans the No. 3 overall selection, the No. 65 overall pick in this year’s draft, and a first and third-round pick in 2026.
The quarterback the Giants are most likely to target is Miami’s Cam Ward.
“Desperation sets in as the Giants make a titanic move to acquire the No. 1 overall pick,” John Kosko writes for PFF. “After seeing Daniel Jones record just 26 big-time throws over the past four seasons, head coach Brian Daboll and general manager Joe Schoen need to bring in a playmaker to provide a spark. Ward racked up 31 big-time throws in 2024 alone and fits what Daboll likes in a mobile quarterback.”

Selecting Ward wouldn’t just potentially spark the Giants’ offense, especially given wide receiver Malik Nabers’ upside, but could buy time for Schoen and Daboll beyond the 2025 season, for the sake of helping aid Ward’s development.
Whether Ward is enough to elevate the Giants into contending is an open question, given the holes at key positions across the roster, likewise, mortgaging significant draft capital for a quarterback is a major risk for a franchise that has made just one postseason berth since 2011.
