New England kicked things off by giving their elite safety the transition tag.
The New England Patriots have transition-tagged their 2nd round pick

According to Jeremy Fowler of ESPN, New England placed the transition tag on Kyle Dugger, worth $13.81 million.
The transition tag is a one-year deal worth the average of the ten highest salaries at the player’s position or 120% of their salary from a year ago, whichever is higher. The player on this tag can negotiate with any team, but if they sign a contract and their current team chooses not to match the offer, they will not receive draft compensation.
Kyle Dugger has had a great start to his career

New England drafted Dugger in the 2nd round, 37th overall in the 2020 NFL Draft.
Dugger appeared in 14 games and missed two because of an ankle injury in his rookie season. He had 64 tackles and allowed 24 receptions on 33 targets for 237 yards and a 92.6 passer rating.
Dugger appeared in 15 games and missed two because of COVID and a hand injury in his second season. He had 92 tackles, four interceptions, and five pass deflections, and allowed 32 receptions on 50 targets for 295 yards, three touchdowns, and a 66.7 passer rating.
Dugger appeared in 15 games and missed two because of a knee and ankle injury in his third season. He had 78 tackles, three interceptions, two pick-sixes, eight pass deflections, and one forced fumble, and allowed 38 receptions on 55 targets for 369 yards, five touchdowns, and a 95.2 passer rating.
Dugger appeared in every game in his fourth season. He had 109 tackles, two interceptions, seven pass deflections, and one forced fumble, and allowed 44 receptions on 64 targets for 478 yards, one touchdown, and an 82.7 passer rating.
Eliot Wolf told reporters last week that he wanted Dugger back

Before New England transition tagged Dugger, Wolf told reporters last week he wanted to bring Dugger back.
“I would say that all the options are on the table. We definitely want to keep Mike and Kyle,” Wolf said. “We’re hopeful to continue to work with with Kyle’s agent and Mike to make that happen.”
Will Dugger get an extension, stay on the transition tag, or sign with someone else this offseason?
